Over the years, I've seen hundreds of websites. And you know what? Most die because of the same mistakes. Here are the three biggest killers:
1. Slow download speed
If a site takes longer than 3 seconds to load, half of your visitors will leave. They will simply leave. Google sees this too and drops you in search.
What to do:
- Compress the image (this is the most common reason)
- Remove unnecessary plugins
- Use normal hosting, not the cheapest one
Real example: a client lost 60% of traffic due to one uncompressed photo on the homepage.
2. No mobile version (or terrible mobile version)
70% people visit from their phones. If your mobile site looks like it was just after an earthquake, you're losing money every day.
Check it out right now: open your site on your phone. Is everything readable? Are the buttons clickable? Do you need to zoom in? No? Problem.
3. It is unclear what you are proposing.
I go to the website – beautiful pictures, a lot of text, but in 10 seconds I can't understand: what are you selling and why should I call you?
The main rule: in 5 seconds a person should understand:
- What are you doing?
- Why does he need this?
- What should he do next (call, write, buy)?
If this is not clear, everything else is irrelevant.
The sad thing is that all of these problems are easy to fix, but most website owners don't even know they exist.
Check your site right now. Honestly. Maybe it's sick too?
