{"id":22609,"date":"2026-08-22T08:34:47","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T08:34:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alexeymalikov.com\/?p=22609"},"modified":"2026-08-22T08:34:48","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T08:34:48","slug":"radio-solomiya-how-to-create-an-online-radio-on-wordpress-with-custom-audio-functionality","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alexeymalikov.com\/en\/radio-solomiya-yak-stvoryty-onlajn-radio-na-wordpress-iz-kastomnoyu-audiofunkczionalnistyu\/","title":{"rendered":"Radio Solomiya \u2014 how to create an online radio on WordPress with custom audio functionality"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WordPress \u00b7 Bricks Builder \u00b7 Custom Development \u00b7 Streaming Audio<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Creating a website for online radio is much more than developing a regular information resource.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In such a project, the site should simultaneously be a streaming platform, an audio library, an information resource, and a convenient tool for working with a large amount of content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is exactly the kind of project that became <strong>Radio Solomiya<\/strong> \u2014 online radio dedicated to Ukrainian musical culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/radio-solomiya.com\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Go to the Radio Solomiya website<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Task<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main goal was to create a modern website for online radio that would not be limited to a regular audio player.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was necessary to combine several functional areas in one WordPress project:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>24\/7 streaming radio;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>convenient listening to audio directly on the site;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>a separate audio library;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>catalog and presentation of musical content;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>section of publications and encyclopedic materials;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the ability to further expand content without changing the site structure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, the site had to remain simple for the user and convenient for administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">WordPress + Bricks Builder<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Was selected for development <strong>WordPress<\/strong>, and the visual part of the site is implemented using <strong>Bricks Builder<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this project, Bricks was used not as a ready-made template, but as a basis for creating our own structure and interface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This allowed us to maintain control over the design, page structure, and behavior of individual elements, while functionality lacking in standard WordPress was implemented separately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Custom audio work<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the key parts of the project was working with audio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the main page, the user immediately gets access to online radio and can listen to the stream without switching to third-party services. Radio Solomiya operates in a 24-hour broadcasting format and specializes in Ukrainian folk, academic and contemporary music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to streaming radio, the site has a separate <strong>audio library<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That is, the site works not only as a radio station, but also as a catalog of audio content, to which the user can return and find individual recordings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is where standard WordPress capabilities are no longer enough - you need your own logic for working with audio content and its display.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Content part<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another important component of the project is the section <strong>publications and encyclopedic articles<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This fundamentally changes the role of the site.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Radio Solomiya is not just a place where you can turn on the radio. It is an information resource that can accumulate knowledge about Ukrainian musical culture, composers, performers, and musical works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thus, audio content and text content work together:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>listen \u2192 find \u2192 read \u2192 discover new music.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is this model that makes a specialized site much more valuable than a regular online radio page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why isn&#039;t the template ready?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For such projects, a ready-made WordPress theme often becomes a limitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can quickly get a standard radio station website, but when specific requirements arise \u2014 streaming audio, your own audio library, non-standard content display logic, integration of different types of materials \u2014 the template architecture starts to get in the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At Radio Solomiya, I used a different approach:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WordPress as a CMS<br>Bricks Builder \u2014 as an interface building tool<br>Custom Development \u2014 for specific functionality<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This allowed us to not adjust the tasks to the capabilities of the ready-made theme, but to build the site according to the real needs of the project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Result<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The result is not just an online radio site, but a full-fledged digital space that combines:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>LIVE RADIO<\/strong><br>24\/7 streaming.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>AUDIO LIBRARY<\/strong><br>A separate library of audio materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PUBLICATIONS<\/strong><br>Publications and encyclopedic content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>WORDPRESS CMS<\/strong><br>A single system for managing all content.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For me, this project is interesting precisely because of the combination of design and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here, WordPress is used not as a basis for another corporate website, but as a full-fledged platform for creating a specialized product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What does this case show?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Radio Solomiya is a good example of how WordPress is not limited to standard company websites, blogs, or online stores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If the project has non-standard logic or specific functions, they can be implemented on top of WordPress using custom development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If there is no ready-made solution, it can be created for a specific task.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This
